A Message that will Change Your Life

Book Review of
"The Principle of the Path"-Andy Stanley
(by Cherie Hill -Thomas Nelson Book Reviewer)

Don’t live one more day of your life without reading “The Principle of the Path.” The thing that I most admire about Andy Stanley is the thing that I admire most about his father; He has the ability to brilliantly communicate a critical message from God in a way that grips your heart and transforms your life from the inside out. In the “Principle of the Path,” you are given the opportunity to reflect upon your life and take a look at where you are on the map of life. You may very well find yourself changing direction and getting on the path that leads to true life!

In today’s fast paced lifestyles, people are living life unconsciously… not clearly seeing that EVERY decision has a consequence. Every path we’re on is because we’re going in a certain direction based on choices we’ve made. Praise God that Andy Stanley stands up for true Christian faith and principles and breaks through the “prosperity gospel” and “positive thinking” false teaching that will eventually devastate lives. He brings to the surface, and to our full attention, that “Direction—NOT INTENTION—determines our destination.” It’s not a matter of “perspective,” but a matter of what path you’ve chosen and whether or not it is “God’s path.” Too many “self help” teachers, even Christian pastors, are pointing people “inward.” Andy Stanley stays true to his Christian values and steps out in faith to point you DIRECTLY to God. N.T. Wright said, “If you think simply of helping people to improve their social and cultural and societal lot in the present world, you have nothing to say.” Andy Stanley has “something to say.” Through the “Principle of the Path,” he not only shows you how to improve this life, but He points you to Jesus who is “the way, the truth, and the life!” There is no better advice that someone could give. It may not be what you “want” to hear…but it is what you “need” hear. Sometimes, the Truth hurts.

The thing that I found most helpful was the questions throughout the book that bring you to a personal sit down session with God. You won’t want to miss that encounter. Buy this book for yourself, the newlywed couple, the dating single, the graduate, and anyone you remotely care about!
