First, and foremost, this is a wonderfully unique devotional. It is unique because each daily reading comes from the Old Testament. Far too many believers find it difficult to not only read the Old Testament, but to see how it is that God wants to speak to them through it. Out of all the devotionals I've read . . . this one is one of my favorites.
The author begins by breaking down the devotionals into life applicable sections in the "Contents:"
Hope and Fear
Love and Hate
Persevereance and Quitting
Faith and Doubt
Loyalty and Betrayal
Companionship and Isolation
Mercy and Judgment
Forgiveness and Anger
Joy and Sadness
Peace and Conflict
So, you can easily look through the topics, search for the area of your life that needs strength and hope, and go directly to those devotionals. Or you can simply read through the book starting with Day 1. The author chose fantastic Scriptures and wrote incredibly insightful words of wisdom to help the reader understand and hear God's voice through each reading. Through this devotional, you'll find the Old Testament come alive and you'll find yourself digging deeper in your faith. "A Year With God" is a devotional that should be essential to your daily Bible study.
