The Voice Bible

If you've ever wanted to hear the voice of God, you'll need to open THE VOICE BIBLE. I am always hesitant and critical towards new translations, fearful that the "interpretation" may cause us to lose the literal translation of the Scriptures. As a sceptic, I chose to review the Voice Bible, anticipating disappointment. I was pleasantly surprised and actually heard the Voice of God more clearly than ever before. Let's face it, the Bible wasn't written in its original manuscripts in Old English (King James Version) . . . that was the "translation." Anyone wanting to read the Scriptures would have to read Hebrew.

I chose to review this Bible by reviewing different Scriptures that the Lord had been speaking to my heart lately; as I read through them in The Voice Bible, I found that each Scripture spoke more clearly and loudly than ever before. I was taken back by the power and glory of God that came alive in those passages that I had chosen. I want to give an example . . . you can look up Psalm 23 if you don't already know it by heart and then take a look at the Voice (a portion of Psalm 23):

The Eternal is my shepherd, He cares for me always.
He provides me rest in rich, green fields beside streams of refreshing water.
He soothes my fears;
He makes me whole again,
steering me off worn, hard paths to roads where truth and righteousness echo His name.
Even in the unending shadows of death's darkness,
I am not overcome by fear.
Because You are with me in those dark moments,
near with Your protection and guidance,
I am comforted.

Before reading the Voice, you MUST read the Preface THOROUGHLY. For those who question the translation, including referring to Jesus as "The Anointed One," and God "The Eternal One," it is imperative that you understand that these titles are an even MORE accurate reference to both Jesus and God.

I particularly liked how The Voice worked the Scriptures into dialogue format when they were able. It helps when reading through the passages. I found the commentary to be incredibly helpful, especially to those investigating the Christian faith and those who are just beginning their Christian walk. The Voice enables the reader to grasp that God has written the story of life and is inviting each one of us into it, so that we might experience God's glory.

I now use this Bible as a supplement to my studies. I have all of my notes in my NIV, but reference THE VOICE to gain a deeper understanding and to hear God's Voice more clearly. This translation is sure to draw you into the presence of God.

Hi Cherie! God has been bringing me back to Psalm 23 & I even shared it on my first post of my blog last week. I LOVE this "take" on it! Just another wonderful reminder that God WILL guide us, provide for us, & take care of us. Love this! Kim B.

Hello Cherie,

I purchased my copy of The Voice a few months back and I too am impressed. The Voice has now become one of my favorite translations, of course my # 1 translation is the ESV Study Bible by Crossway, of which I have the larger print variety, yup, it is HUGE! I don't believe God is going to be upset by us reading this translation, in fact I would bet he probably likes it as well, just a thought.
In closing I would like to thank you for a wonderful posting and spreading the Word.
