Handbook for the 2012 Question

"Will the World End in 2012?" is the question a lot of people are asking, and it seems to be all the hype. Dr. Hundley strives to take the question people are asking and present the facts as the world knows them, so that you can feel confident when discussing the matter to others...especially as a Christian.

This is a difficult review. I thought the book was fantastic at briefly touching on the different arguments for the end of the world being Dec.21, 2012, but I'm just not sure it will be enough for the "skeptical" readers. I believe the most discussed prediction has to do with the "Mayan" calendar and Dr. Hundley addressed this case very well; citing even the current Mayan leader who does not believe, based on their culture, that the world is going to end in 2012. There were some theories that Dr. Hundley addressed which I had not heard of...this book helped me to understand clearly what people are talking about and how to address those predictions in my own mind. But, when it came down to it...my faith was already intact regarding these issues. The answer to these theories based upon the Bible is, "No one knows when the world will end." If the Son of God, Jesus Christ, said that no one knows, not even Himself...who are we to think that we "know." As a Christian we know that Christ is coming before the world ends...and He will take us home. That's ALL we need to know.

This book was VERY easy to read and understand...especially with so much research cited. I would recommend this book for any age group over the age of 10, and I would encourage those who are concerned about the issue of the world ending to buy it. I especially appreciated the end of the book where Dr. Hundley invites the reader to accept a personal relationship with Christ; this was truly the whole point of the book. The author directs all of us away from the understanding of "man"... that has no possible way of "knowing," and drives us to an Almighty God who holds the world in the palm of His hands and is "ALL KNOWING." It is through our faith in Him that we can have peace, regardless of "when" the world ends.

Cherie,

I was reading down your review and saying to myself, "It sounds like she is agreeing with him." (meaning the author) and "How can someone so well rooted in the word not see the error in that?" I was so relieved when I got further down and you turned it around and clarify your position as to no one knowing the day and hour.

Well written review, especially considering his position conflicts with your personal views.
