I haven't read Dr. Larry Crabb's "66 Love Letters," but after reading "God's Love Letters to You," I'm anxious to get a copy. The greatest struggle most Christians have in their faith is how to study the Bible. We tend to look at the Bible as something to be "studied" instead of cherished. When we clearly understand that the Bible is God's Voice, His "Love Letters to us," then our perspective changes and we are able to listen as we read. Throughout every piece of Scripture, God is speaking to us and if you're not attuned to hearing His voice, Dr. Larry Crabb will help you.
I found this book to be a wonderful and unique devotional. It's hard to find good devotionals these days . . . and this one was truly inspirational, convicting, and uplifting. I especially liked the Scripture that were chosen. They're not your "usual" Scriptures. Each devotional starts with a Title (that is attention grabbing), a Scripture (wisely chosen), a Devotional (incredibly written), and a Prayer (sure to draw you nearer to God). Truthfully, I read this book in nearly one sitting, instead of in a devotional style. I really enjoyed how Dr. Crabb took a Scripture and helped me to hear God's voice through it. It's truly a "conversational" style of writing. The devotional speaks to you as if it were God himself speaking.
At times, I felt like more could have been done with the Devotional sections. At other times, the devotionals were so brilliant that they reminded me of the way my spirit feels when I read Oswald Chambers. I would HIGHLY recommend getting this in ebook form!!!! (even though I got paperback) This book would be perfect to carry around in your kindle. You'll want to read them over and over.
*I received this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review through the Thomas Nelson BookSneeze Program.

This sounds very good Cherie! And I'm getting lots of good use out of my Kindle so that's a good suggestion. I also love to read Sarah Young's devotionals like "Jesus Calling".
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Hi Debbie! This devotional is similar to a Sarah Young style. Not quite. Interestingly enough, my next book, a devotional, will be Sarah Young style. She inspired me six years ago. I wondered if God could speak to me in the same way and I've put together a collection of devotionals that I've written over the years. CAN'T WAIT to get that one done! I just keep praying for more hours in the day . . . God hasn't answered that prayer yet!
Blessings to you sister, lots of love,
Cherie
Hi Cherie -- I think I may pick up this book. I'm sitting in a hiatus right now -- the Lord (I am almost positive) has asked me to sit back and to be still. It is requiring alot of strength! This book may be a helpful addition as I wrestle with God through the dry times. Thank you for the rec.
Blessings Cherie... I just received this one also to review but in an ebook! I DO have "66 Love Letters" and I LOVE IT. Much more of this style for all 66 books. I thought this would be a good accompaniment of that first book like a study guide. We'll see. The first book weaves beautifully the theme of God's love and the party waiting for us. I like how Dr. Crabb honestly questions parts of God's Word and admitting that he does not get how this draws us closer to God or how this part works with the whole. I truly enjoyed reading your review and the challenge of reading all in one sitting, I will have to pass (staring at a screen from beginning to end no longer a feat I can accomplish as I did with the Left Behind series). I love how different people like Sarah Young and Dr. Crabb and Journal of the Heart (Brenda Craig) write what they hear from God! I read your response above and can't wait until you are able to share YOURS!!! You'll keep us posted when it's published, right? Thanks for this review.
Love and peace,
Peggy
Hi Cherie,
I've come over from Noreen's blog and couldn't resist because my middle name is Cherie!
I have to admit I haven't entered "KindleLand" yet...I guess a netbook doesn't count?
However, I look forward to reading some of your work. It sounds like GOD is using you mightily to encourage others in His Love.
My husband and I have recently made a difficult transition and I don't quite have my bearings yet...but hope to get serious about writing again. Blessings to you and yours.
