Finding Our Way Again

I eagerly awaited "Finding Our Way Again," by Brian Mclaren . . . I've read other books in the Ancient Practices series and found them to be enlightening; especially "In Constant Prayer" by Robert Benson. However, as I began reading, I somehow ended up "lost." Nothing "flowed." I found my mind all over the place as I wandered about the pages trying to figure out exactly what it was I was supposed to get out of each chapter. The only thing that helped me find my way again was the questions at the end of each chapter, "Spiritual Exercises." I found the questions to be thought provoking in my faith walk and appreciated them, but they seemed insufficient in driving home a message that was to be conveyed. Even the questions seemed somewhat disconnected from the message at times. The questions alone might have yielded a more well organized message.

I don't really think that anyone needs an entire book to explain that the Christian church, for the most part, is broken. Or that "worldliness" is dominating in society. Too much time was spent on these topics. I'm just not certain who I would recommend this book to. That's my problem with it. It's not going to help the average everyday person find their way into a relationship with Christ. It's educational, but not inspiring . . . in my opinion.

Hi Friend, AKA Cherie :o)
I hope you had a very blessed weekend.

You Wrote:
"He knows the motivations behind your thoughts and actions."

I want my love for Him to be the motivation for everything I say and do, and I need His Holy Spirit to lead me, on this journey. I want to Love Him, really love Him and that is what drives me to seek Him. This is a great post that really targets the most important question we need to ask ourselves everyday.

God bless you friend,
Michele
