Hermie, A Common Caterpillar (Review)

Hermie has been a well loved caterpillar in our home as my boys have grown up. The lessons and messages within the Hermie series are truly priceless. For children who have seen the videos, this book may not be what you're looking for. "Hermie, a common caterpillar" is the introductory story about Hermie. It's the story of Hermie feeling sad and left out because he is just too common, while God has made every other creature unique and extraoridanry. What Hermie comes to find out is that God HAS made him special, but God has work do to in him . . . it signifies that we are a work in progress for God  . . . "He's not finished with us yet." The message could not be more fantastic.

The illustrations in the book are drawn and well done. Those children who have been enthralled with the videos however might be disappointed that there are not "live photo" illustrations. Hermie and the other characters don't look "just" like they do in the movies. (close, but not identical) So, I would recommend this book to those just starting their children out on Hermie and then getting the videos to allow Hermie and friends to come alive. ; )

*I received this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review through the Thomas Nelson BookSneeze Program.
